  • 1992 – finished grammar school (with a focus on foreign languages) in Pardubice
  • 1992 - 1997 Master's degree in German philology and political science, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague
  • 1994 - 1999 Master's degree in law, Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague
  • 1999 – 2000 and 2001 – 2002 Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, Neuphilologische Fakultät, Graduiertenkolleg „Dynamik von Substandardvarietäten“
  • November, 2003 – Ph.D. dissertation „Ausgewählte grammatische Phänomene des neuen Standards und der Destandardisierung im geschriebenen Gegenwartsdeutsch“
    • defended in April, 2004
  • August 2006 – short-term research scholarship: New York University (focus: language policy)
